"The Pig Shit Scum of the Wasteland and Flowers for Pamela"  an exhibition of paintings by Bob Karstadt

 

   I am not a political artist. I am a humanist artist responding to influences and experiences in my life. I don’t want to explain my politics. This is already given in the title of the exhibition and the aesthetic of the images. I simply feel that the individuals I depict are threats to the well being of all people and the world. Painting these figures is taxing and painful. To counter the negative effects of that process, I paint celebratory flowers for my wife Pamela. She loves flowers, and these works are to show her my love and inspire her happiness. I hope my flower paintings do the same for other viewers.
