n 1984 I woke up on the beach in Asbury Park New Jersey at dawn.  I walk out to the end of a jetty. As the sun rose the color and light filled me with an overwhelming feeling of joy. As I cry from the joy the tears in my eyes enhanced the nature of the light and colors. The Calm paintings are meditations and reflections on that experience. The paintings are in response to this emotional and visual experience.
